The outstanding optical design of Ritchey-Chretien astrographs allows you to capture spectacular deep sky objects.
Unlike conventional Newtonian and Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes, which are prone to coma, the Ritchey-Chretien design uses hyperbolic primary and secondary mirrors, made of BK7 glass, to achieve virtually coma-free images. Images are also free from chromatic aberration as no lenses are involved.
- an Orion Ritchey-Chretien Astrograph ideal for small format cameras such as the StarShoot series or DSLRs. The optics fully illuminate large DSLR sensors and deliver point-like stars right out to the edge of the field of view.
- the RC astrograph has a Crayford focuser with reduction ratio fine focusing and an engraved millimetre scale on the focuser.
- the secondary mirror is marked in the centre for easy collimation.
- the enamelled steel OTA is relatively light and has a prism rail on the underside for easy attachment to equatorial mounts.
- interior of the OTA is equipped with a specially engineered stray light baffle system. The primary mirror tube and the secondary mirror shield are roughened inside for maximum image contrast.
