Baader GM counterweights are made from solid stainless steel, with a pressed-in aluminium insert for using the weights with a particular shaft diameter.
The standard counterweights come with a mounting hole diameter of 40mm (60mm for the 20kg weight).
Stainless steel always has a little surface roughness, but the advantage is that its surface does not degrade, does not have to be painted or coated and can withstand scratches and dents without becoming unsightly.
With weights made of steel, the locking screw thread often rusts after a while, especially if the mount remains outdoors. A counterweight made of solid V2A stainless steel will not degrade or even rust even in sensitive areas such as this.
- combined handle/locking screw for rapid weight balancing
- pressed-in aluminium insert
- solid V2A stainless steel
Clamping of the weight for quick balancing is via a knurled hand-wheel. Additionally, a recessed Allen socket is accessible in the centre of the hand-wheel, which can be fully tightened with an Hex key.
- final clamping via Hex key
Note: V2A weights are only available in connection with the purchase of a GM ALT or AstroPhysics mount!
