Orion XT10 Classic Dobsonian Telescope

I was caught between the XT8 and the XT10, I did a lot of reading and visited several astronomy forums where I asked several questions. In the end, I purchased the XT10, and I don't regret my decision in the slightest. The XT10 is a light bucket; simply awesome! From my seriously light polluted back yard outside of Paris, I was able to find M51, the spiral galaxy in Ursa Major. Saturn was an absolutely breathtaking sight on calm nights, and I'm able to resolve globular clusters nicely. Viewing the moon, I'm able to see, very clearly, secondary impacts around the craters. How cool is that?! The XT10 was very easy to assemble and is relatively easy to move around. It's probably at the limit of being easily portable though. I'm a 6 foot-plus guy in decent shape and I take the scope outside in two parts, the base and then the tube. I added some nylon strap handles to the tube assembly witch makes transporting it much easier and a lot less awkward, probably safer too. Just keep in mind that if you have a bad back, this may not be the scope for you; it is a little on the heavy side. I would liken the weight to carrying a large sac of dog food on your hip.
Astroshop did a really nice job with this order. The XT10 was shipped out very quickly and arrived within a week. The scope was double-boxed and there was no damage whatsoever. This was not my first order with Astroshop and definitely won't be my last; I recommend them to all as they seem to care about their customers purchases. I for one greatly appreciate this, a big thank you goes out to everyone at Astroshop.eu, good job.
